Probably the most exciting river ride in Ohio is provided by Little
Beaver Creek. Underwater bedrock and quick rapids lead seamlessly into
areas of calm, deep water in various spots along the unpredictable course.
In some portions, the river valley can seem overwhelming. With miles
of pines and hardwoods receding backward from the water’s edge,
you may feel like nature is about to engulf you from all angles. It
is no wonder that Little Beaver was one of the Midwest’s first
to be dubbed a “Wild, Scenic River.”
The rocks and shores are inhabited by wild mammals, amphibians, and
of course birds. The creek is a dense, self-sustaining Ohio ecosystem
that is well worth a few days of careful exploration.
