These caves are a well-known tourist attraction to the surrounding Ohioans,
but not so outside the state. If you happen to be traveling through
the region, Seven caves are a must see.
The various caverns and their clever names (Devil’s Icebox, Dancing
Cave, to name a few) are each rich with wildlife and legend. Apparently
used as hideaways for outlaws, meeting grounds for early settlers, and
dwelling places for Native Americans, the guided tours here are almost
as fantastic as the scenery.
There are some fantastic opportunities to see humans appropriately interacting
with nature. Untouched landmarks, minimal bridges and walkways, all
carefully treaded upon, and a general respect, overall.
Seven Caves is not a campground, but as with Nelson-Kennedy Ledges,
there are some very close by. The preferred grounds are some of Ohio’s
finest: Rocky Fork and Paint Creek State Parks.
