Winters in Columbus can be quite cold and dreary, with occasional bitter winds coming down from Lake Erie over the flat prairie lands that make up the northern 2/3rd’s of the state. Spring is pleasant but brief, and the relatively lush fields and forests surrounding the city often trouble those with allergies. Summers are humid with July average temperatures at 75° F, though much hotter days are common towards the end of the summer, and at all times the humidity makes it feel hotter than it is. Autumn is warm to mildly cool, with gorgeous fall foliage.
