Ice-fishing on Lake Metigoshe
Lake Metigoshe State Park is located 14 miles northeast of Bottineau, North Dakota on the shores of beautiful Lake Metigoshe, amid the scenic Turtle Mountains near the US/Canadian border. Lake Metigoshe State Park is one of the most popular year-round vacation destinations in the state.

Lake Metigoshe is noted among anglers for its excellent North Dakota fishing because northern pike, walleye and perch are so plentiful there. Ice fishing is popular in the winter. The rolling hills, aspen forests are a paradise for hikers and nature photographers. The Old Oak Trail, a National Recreation Trail found within the park boundaries, provides a perfect opportunity to do both.

The park has facilities for both modern and primitive camping and picnicking. There are cabins available for rent year-round. Winter provides lots of outdoor activities like snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, skating and sledding. The park features some 250 miles of groomed trails throughout the Turtle Mountains.
