North Dakota's Cross Ranch Centennial State Park is both a cultural
and natural historical treasure, and one of the country’s
best spots for outdoor adventure. The park stretches along 7 miles
of the last free-flowing, undeveloped parts of the once mighty
Missouri River. Cross Ranch State Park is also dedicated to the
preservation of the natural beauty of North Dakota. A boat ramp
allows visitors to explore this scenic stretch of the Missouri
river, while anglers will find excellent North Dakota fishing
for walleye, pike and bass in its waters. Canoe rentals are also
available.
Skiers can enjoy the extensive trail system, which may be explored
either on foot or on cross-country skis during the winter months.
In the summer, the trails take hikers to a 5,000-acre dedicated
nature preserve made up of mixed grass prairie and river bottom
forests. A backcountry area is open for visitors looking for a
secluded North Dakota camping spot.
