Located in the Fort Berthold Indian Reservation, New
Town is most famous for being a stop along Lewis & Clarke’s
expedition to the American West. A fantastic view of Lake Sakakawea,
named after the Native American woman who aided them as a guide and
translator who lived just north of New Town, can be seen from Crow Flies
High Butte. Visitors can find camping and boating opportunities there,
at the New Town Marina or on the grounds of the nearby 4 Bears Casino.
The 3 tribes museum offers Native American History buffs a chance to
learn more about New Town’s forefathers.
