Minot is North Dakota’s 4th largest city, and is the proud host of the North Dakota State Fair. Visitors might spend the day at the Scandinavian Heritage Park an important local attraction to the 40% of Minot’s population that are of Scandinavian descent. With that many Norse Americans it should come as no surprise that October’s Norsk Hostfest is one of Minot’s biggest events. Visitors lucky enough to attend can eat their fill of lefse, a delicious potato flatbread.

Those who miss the special events might avail themselves of Minot’s surprisingly diverse and vibrant art’s community. In addition to its symphony orchestra, the Minot Area Council on the Arts lists over 40 organizations, including everything from dance troupes to punk bands. Visiting ice-skaters may enjoy the MAYSA Ice Arena. Minot has 17 city parks, none of which allow dogs. The Minot International Airport receives service 3 times daily from Northwest Airlines.
