North Dakota’s most well known city, Fargo, is
also its largest. It sits along the Red River across from Moorhead,
Minnesota. The Visitors center sits inside a giant grain elevator and
has its own Walk of Fame, graced by such famous visitors such as President
George W. Bush and rock band Def Leopard.
Fargo’s historic downtown is worth a look. The Art Deco Fargo
Theater has a working Wurlitzer Organ and showcases independent films.
Fargo is also the home of North Dakota State University. The university
athletics program offers some opportunities for sports fans to catch
a game, as does the Fargo-Moorhead Redhawks Baseball team.
Visitors looking for a more interesting
place to stay than the Motel 6 can check out the C’mon Inn, or
simply camp out in the middle of Fargo at Linwood Park Campground.
For a nice meal in Fargo head down to Dakota
Soda for old fashioned American fare, or hang out with the hipper crowd
at Trentino.
