North Carolina is found in a warm temperate region, but it experiences
a great variety of weather conditions. The Mountainous parts of the
state get average temperatures of 30 degrees Fahrenheit in January and
65 degrees Fahrenheit in August. January averages in the coastal plains
usually hit the mid 40's, and August average temperatures are in the
90's. The state averages approximately 44 inches of rainfall each year,
but only 5 inches of snowfall.
