When to visit:

North Carolina’s beaches are packed and frantic for most of the summer and a good part of the spring; visitors can still have a good time, but crowds and high prices will be tough to avoid near the ocean. The rest of the state tends to swelter from May to September. In the otherwise slow winter season the ski resorts draw good-sized, though not massive, crowds.

Fall is a good time to visit North Carolina. Bird watching and wildlife viewing the states nature preserves is at its peak in the autumn months. Mid-March to mid-November is prime golf season in North Carolina.
