Class IV rapids on Moose River.
The Moose River is a mountain stream that originates on the Western edge of Adirondack State Park in NewYork State. It isn’t the largest of New York rivers, but it’s very fast and strong. The Moose is also very scenic, flowing through beautiful and bucolic Herkimer and Lewis Counties before achieving its confluence with the Black River at Lyons Falls.

Because of the Moose River’s high gradient as it plummets down from the Adirondack mountains, The Moose is an unsurpased whitewater river and a favorite vacation destination for kayakers and canoeists. Every year come October, throngs of whitewater paddlers from all over the US and Canada enjoy themselves on the Moose. The Bottom Moose run is a particular favorite among the more experienced paddlers who want to take the challenge of shootiong Class-V whitewater. The Bottom Moose has a number of waterfalls, ranging in difficulty from relatively easy to definitely dangerous.
