Rafting the Upper Delaware Visitors to New York who enjoy relaxing National Park Rafting should put the Upper Delaware Scenic and Recreational River on their to-do list. It is the longest free-flowing river in the Northeast. At 73.4 miles it includes a variety of opportunities for river trips and outdoor recreation, with riffles and Class I and II rapids between calm pools and eddies. Anglers can even do a little National Park fishing on the river while they’re at it.

The Upper Delaware River is at its narrowest on the portion between Pennsylvania and New York. The average depth of the river is only 4.5 feet, but it contains deep holes ranging from12 to 113 feet (at Narrowsburg), and the river can rise rapidly after heavy rains and releases from dams on tributaries.

Visitors may bring your own boating equipment or rent from liveries. A valid state registration is required for motorized watercraft, as well as commercial non-motorized vessels.
