New York City Weather

New York City, New York has a humid continental climate. Much of the city’s weather is dictated by its location on the coast of the Atlantic Ocean.

The winters there are normally quite cold, but remain milder than those of other inland cities at similar latitudes in the Eastern and Midwestern United States, and daytime temperatures rarely fall bellow freezing. Snowfall averages roughly 2 feet annually, but winter rain is more common than snow.

Summers in NYC are extremely hot at humid. This amount of stone and steel in its heavily constructed core exacerbate the heat, and visiting in the dog days is highly discouraged. The transitional seasons are the best time to visit New York City. Spring is warm and pleasant and autumn is sunny and mild. The changing leaves in Central Park draw thousands of visitors each year.
