The Upper Delaware Scenic and Recreational River in New York
is made up of over 73 miles of the Delaware River between Hancock
and Sparrow Bush, New York, along the Pennsylvania-New York border.
The Delaware is the longest free-flowing river in the Northeast,
and includes riffles and Class I and II rapids between still pools
and gentle eddies, making it a favorite New York rafting river.
Other activities on the Upper Delaware National Scenic and Recreational
River include camping, hiking, horseback riding, swimming, boating,
canoeing, kayaking, tubing, fishing, hunting and a guided tour
of the Zane Grey Museum. Facilities in the park include privately
owned campgrounds, rest rooms, cabins fore rent and other lodging,
boat rental, boat ramp, a visitor center and access to grocery
stores and restaurants. Use of the Upper Delaware National Scenic
and Recreational River is permitted 24 hours a day, year-round,
unless closed due to flooding or other hazardous conditions.
