New York’s Oneida Lake, located northeast
of Syracuse, is the biggest inland lake in the state. It is 22 miles
long, and follows a portion of the Oneida River, which flows from the
west end of Oneida Lake into the Oswego River.
Oneida Lake is one of the most popular New York lakes, as evidenced
by the beach resort area nestled on the eastern shore of the lake. Here
visitors can enjoy sandy beaches, picnic areas, boating, camping, marinas,
fishing and the Sylvan Beach Amusement Park.
Oneida Lake is well known for its New York State fishing opportunities
thanks to the lakes well-maintained fisheries. Anglers can cast for
the huge walleyed pike, perch, catfish and bass that make their home
in Oneida Lake.
The nearby Finger Lakes Region provides guests a chance to expand their
fun zone a bit. The wineries, museums and state parks are all just a
short drive from Oneida Lake.
