Seventy-two miles of drastically fluctuating land exist within New Jersey borders. The physical makeup of the land is also quite varying.

From marshes and bogs to jagged rock formations to steadily rolling hills, the Appalachian Trail takes some interesting turns through New Jersey. At times, it can even seem quite secluded. The area surrounding the trail houses lots of varying species, from birds to bears, and eventually intersects with the Delaware Water Gap, one of the most abundant wild places in the state.
