Atlantic City was poised to be the
swank gambling capital of the East coast and instead, the investors
and landowners have turned it into a tackier, less glamorous version
of Nevada’s Las Vegas. But this coastal New Jersey town
still feeds the odd hunger associated with the slot machines,
tables and wheels.
The Boardwalk packs in a lot of tourist hubs, restaurants and
elaborate hotel/casinos. It moves along the oceanfront through
the heart of the strip. Across from all the gambling buzz is a
carnival-style setting complete with rolling vendors dishing out
pizza, funnel cakes and the like. This area is swarming at night,
but in the day it calms down (slightly).
If overwhelmed, head southwest of the city toward some sparser,
more quiet beaches or charter a fishing boat for an Atlantic Ocean
angling adventure.
