New Jersey locals call this waterfall the great Great Falls because this 80 foot waterfall the highest in the northeast after Niagara. New Jersey’s Great Falls and the Passaic River also have a fascinating history. It’s too long to go into here but it’s very interesting.

An important point for folks with past familiarity with the Passaic River is that it has been cleaned up and is probably cleaner now than in Colonial times when the river powered Paterson New Jersey's heavy industry.
