The ancient age of glaciers did an
interesting number on this part of the American Northeast, carving
out kettle ponds, smoothing over chunks of land while others remain
jagged and harsh. Frank Bolles is an astute example of such diversity.
Totaling 247 acres and sharing borders with two other protected
plots, Frank Bolles Preserve lies in the midst of some drastically
varying woodland. Within miles of each other are kettles, glacial
boulders, thick swamps, clearings and densely lined waterways.
The preserve only opens its doors to those who seek to appreciate,
study, and benefit nature while on the grounds. The land here
is unspoiled as it is diverse and worthy of some thorough exploration.
