New Hampshire’s cities are
known primarily for their longevity. The history that surrounds
them is fascinating and well worth careful exploration. It is
always worthwhile to take a glimpse into your past to see what
sort of progress we’ve made as a nation.
Portsmouth is a shining example of this mentality. A well-preserved,
respectable city with a rich past, it is one of the more popular
stop offs in the state. Strawberry Banke is a fine example of
what the town used to consist of. Historic homes and a generally
colonial setting, this is a worthwhile glimpse into the city’s
origins.
Downtown is the Portsmouth Harbor and various shops, galleries,
and restaurants. You can stop by one of many local music venues
or hop on a steamship for a jaunt out to offshore destinations.
