Wild Horse State Recreation Area is a 12-acre park on the northeast shore of Wild Horse Reservoir in northeast Nevada, 67 miles north of Elko. Wild Horse reservoir usually experiences the Nevada’s lowest winter temperatures, thanks to its scenic position among the mountains.

Wild Horse is the perfect lake for the whole family. The park offers a family campground with 33 Nevada campsites, including a group campground, as well as a picnic area, a boat launch, showers, Nevada Hiking trails, and a swimming area. Other popular activities include hunting, fishing and boating. Wild Horse State Parks mild summer temperatures are very attractive, but on the other hand, the reservoir is a favorite ice-fishing destination during the winter months. The park is open year-round, but access may be hindered by cold and/or heavy snow in winter months.
