Snowy day in Dayton State Park
Dayton State Park is located in the town of Dayton, just 12 miles east of Carson City, Nevada. It is a 160-acre park that is open year-round, and features numerous conveniences, such as a dump station, 11 day-use picnicking and group picnicking areas, Nevada hiking and horseback riding trails, 10 campground units, a comfort station and public restrooms. In addition, the mighty Carson River flows right through Dayton State Park, providing excellent opportunities for Nevada fishing and bird watching.

Dayton State Park is also the site of the historic Rock Point Mill. Guided tours of the Rock Point Mill site are scheduled annually. Nature and wildlife studies are also a big part of the park’s mission. Those interested in learning more about the region’s geography, flora and fauna can enjoy several interpretive talks, including a fascinating lecture on native snakes.
