Nebraska’s temperatures vary from season to season
as well as year to year, which is not untypical of continental American
climates. The central region averages a temperature of 50 degrees F
annually, with an average high of 76 degrees F in July. In January a
monthly minimum of 22 degrees F is normal.
Average yearly precipitation in Omaha is approximately 30 inches. The
semiarid panhandle in the west sees roughly 17 inches per year while
the southeast receives nearly double that amount. Snowfall in the state
ranges from about 20 inches in the southeast to around 45 inches in
the northwest. Severe weather in Nebraska takes the form of blizzards,
droughts, and windstorms.
