Nebraska conjures visions of endless farmlands full of corn and wheat, but while that isn’t far from the truth there is more to this great state than swaths of crops. Lincoln, the states Capitol is the home of the University of Nebraska and a great place to learn a little state history. There are a number of good state parks, particularly in the panhandle, like Fort Robinson State Park and Toadstool Geological Park, with its fossils and hiking trail. Following the Cowboy Trail is a great way to get in a little hiking, biking and horseback riding, and for a little bird watching the Crane Meadow Nature Center is a good choice.
