With the possible exception of the climate in the mountains, Montana's
weather is less severe than some visitors might expect. Montana is dry,
and the low humidity prevents the state from being excessively hot.
Or cold. Average daytime temperatures vary from 28 degrees in January
to 84.5 degrees in July. Montana is rarely consistently hot or cold.
Even in the dead of Montana’s snowy winters warm “Chinook”
winds and mild periods are frequent. While the average annual precipitation
in Montana is 15 inches, it is as unpredictable as the temperature,
varying from barely 10 to over 100 inches.
