Information on Noxon Rapids Reservoir:
This is primarily a bass fishery with smallmouth bass being the most commonly caught species. There are some big largemouth bass as well but you can count on the smallies. For best success fish the structure. This reservoir has old sunken roadbeds and huge shallow flats covered with stumps that always hold bass and sometimes, big pike in the 5-15 pound range. Spring time is a good time to catch fish on plugs, spinner baits and rubber worms, but as the season progresses, most folks shift to tube jigs and worms in smoke and gold fleck color schemes. Standard motor oil color plastic worms work pretty good too. This is a great spot to chase bass in the three to five pound class with some reaching over seven. Some good places to start looking include the bays of the tributaries, mid reservoir north of Marten Creek, directly across from North Shore Campground, the bass ponds at Trout Creek, Finley Flats and off the golf course downstream of Thompson Falls. The other fish you might catch include rainbow trout, bull trout, cutthroat trout, brook trout, lake trout, perch, walleye, peamouth, suckers, and northern pike minnows. Bull trout are listed on the Endangered Species List and need to be released unharmed. Cabinet Gorge Reservoir - This is primarily a bass fishery. There are some big bass in this reservoir but they are not easily found. For best success fish the structure.
