Only less than an hour away from Shelby, the tourists can enjoy one of the best versatile recreational areas in Montana, Tiber Dam-Lake Elwell, spread in 7,678 acres of area. It provides an excellent year-round angling for walleye, northern and sauger pike, native trout, ling, perch and others.
Located in Liberty County, on the Marias river, has provided over 178 miles of shore line , a marina, and five well maintained boat ramps, for boaters and swimmers. It also has a number of campground areas.

At the beach, you can find spectacular windblown sandstone formations, tipi rings, and one of the largest earthen dikes in the world over three miles long. The sea shore and its surrounding area is best for hunting mule and whitetail deer, antelope, upland game birds, water fowl, and varmints. Just close to the beach, you can find the unique birdwatching area, along the Marias River below the dam. |
