Castlewood State Park

It’s interesting to note the passage of time in this part of Missouri. The hotels and clubs that once amassed this beautiful natural setting are gone, but remaining are odd ruins: a staircase leading up a hill, the adjoining park, etc. and it all has the eerie remnants of times gone by.

But clearly, this region should be best known for what encases it. Natural beauty abounds in the limestone cliffs and below in the rich valleys and fluctuating landmasses. Spring-fed creeks, good fishing, hiking and bicycling are all there and you’ll probably get to that once you finish gazing around in awe.
