Cloud over Truman Reservoir
With a water storage capacity of more than 5 million acres the Truman Reservoir is the biggest flood control reservoir in the state of Missouri. Truman Reservoir, and more than 100,000 acres of land surrounding the lake, is managed for fish and wildlife. Over 55,000 acres in the area are licensed to the Missouri Department of Conservation for fish and wildlife management and approximately 8,800 acres of timber was left standing in the lake in order to improve habitat for game fish.

Truman Reservoir features extensive recreational development. Some 20 parks and access areas are conveniently located around the lake. Park areas at Truman Reservoir also provide a wide range of recreation facilities, such as boating launch ramps, Missouri campgrounds, full service marinas, picnic areas, sandy beaches, swimming areas and a regional visitor center. The recreational areas at the Truman Reservoir Lake are managed by the Army Corps of Engineers.
