Located very close to the geographic
center of the United States and containing an extremely average-size
population, Kansas City has been dubbed the “heart of America.”
It is characteristically Midwest, with its brief but rich history
and its rapid uprising. KC now has two professional sports teams,
a massive science center and the most significant World War I
museum in the world.
The art museum has a decent collection, mostly acquired during
the depression, including a large grounds collection with works
by Claes Oldenburg and Henry Moore.
If you’re looking for a truly American city that has long
been an interest during the journey west, stop off in Kansas City
for some Mid-American flair.
