Missouri is one of the states in the Midwestern region of the United States, surrounded by Iowa, Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Kansas and Nebraska. It is the 18th most populous state, and composed of 114 counties and one independent city. The two largest Missouri rivers are the Mississippi, flowing in the eastern boundary of the state, and the Missouri, flowing from west to east through the state, linking the two largest cities, Kansas City and St. Louis.

Missouri is named after the Missouri Siouan Indian tribe, that means "town of the large canoes", is a U.S. state in the United States with Jefferson City as its capital. The state is also referred to as the Show-Me State.

As Missouri is a land locked state, it has no coastal and oceanfront beaches, but there are a few lakeside popular beaches. These are Moonshine Beach, Osage Beach, Rockaway Beach, Beach at Lake of the Ozarks.
   
 

Moonshine BeachA great place for relaxing with the family, having a sandy beach located on Table Rock Lake allows families to swim, sun and enjoy beautiful views.

Chapel Hill Beach :  Popular beach in Iron county, having sloping shore washed by waves, and usually covered by sand or gravel.

Osage BeachThe Lake of the Ozark, the largest manmade lake system in the US, covers 54,000 acres, impounds 646 billion gallons of water and has 1,150 miles of cove indented shoreline, is famous for the Osage Beach.

Rockaway Beach :   Situated at the west of the Mississippi River, founded in 1917, is also known as the "Gateway to the Tri-Lakes Region" consisting of Tablerock, Taneycomo and Bull Scholls Lakes.

Long Branch Lake Beach :   An ideal recreation spot for water lovers as well as nature lovers. The visitors can take advantage of all the recreation options the lake has to offer, or hike through a restored prairie.

Blue Springs Lake Beach :   Located in Fleming Park, offers 720 acres of water excitement, power boating, water skiing, tubing and jet skiing are all familiar sights on this popular lake beach.

Bull Shoals Lake BeachOne of the cleanest lake beach in America, having crystal clear water perfect for all recreational activities.

Clear water Lake Beach An artificial lake on the Black River six miles from Piedmont, Missouri was created with the purpose of controlling floods in the White and lower Mississippi River Basins.
