Mississippi’s Delta Region
is rightfully synonymous with the blues, birthing legends such
as Muddy Waters, Howlin’ Wolf, Robert Johnson and John Lee
Hooker. Visitors to this region can wander the same streets as
these mysterious souls and get a taste of the rich, succinct culture
that has crept forth from the mouth of the Mississippi River.
Clarksdale has retained memorabilia, music, and stories that teeter
very close to mythology from the era that remains on a loop in
the Blues Alley Historic District.
The charters and informational tours that snake along the bayou
remain interesting tourism mainstays. Take a schooner or a shrimp
boat for a real nostalgic Mississippi feel. And don’t forget
to indulge in some down home Cajun food at a bayside restaurant.
