With casinos now dotting the gulf
coast, Biloxi is seeing its first economic upswing for a long
time. Before this, the primary tourist attractions were the pristinely
restored plantation homes that remained monuments to Mississippi’s
long-forgotten prosperity.
It is easy to appreciate the gulf coast region for its beaches,
bays, docks and everything between. Hotels and casinos now own
the waterfront very close to this manmade seaboard, and have sort
of overtaken the entire region. While between poker games, take
a ferry out to West Bridge island or stroll down Main Street to
see what beauty remains in Biloxi.
