 The Institute for Marine Mammal Studies (IMMS) is a non-profit organization dedicated to the understanding of marine life through research, education, conservation and innovation. IMMS was founded in 1984. The preservation of marine mammals and the environments where they live, as well as the responsibility humans have in the management of marine mammals in both captivity and the wild are the main focus of IMMS. IMMS has a collaborative working relationship with such institutes as the University of Southern Mississippi, Mississippi State University, Louisiana State University and many others.
