Leech Lake is located in Minnesota’s
Chippewa National Forest. The lake covers 112,835 acres, has a
maximum depth of 178 feet, and an average depth of 14 feet. Mild
summer weather, sandy beaches, and exceptional water quality make
Leech Lake one of the most inviting Minnesota lakes.
Leech Lake is a boater’s paradise. There are numerous marinas
where visitors can rent docks with an array of facilities. Boats
of all sizes are welcome here, including large powerboats, though
in some places the lake is as shallow as 5 feet.
Anglers will find Leech Lake a great place for Minnesota fishing.
The lake is most renowned for its muskie, and has produced the
2nd biggest muskie ever caught in Minnesota: 52.4 pounds. Leech
Lake also provides excellent northern, walleye, perch, and largemouth
bass fishing.
Campers can find sites on Walker Bay along the harbor or the lake,
where the shoreline is all flat and sandy and the facilities are
clean. Leech Lake’s campgrounds provide access to water,
electricity and restrooms.
