Although you’ll see the occasional lodge or cabin
along this extensive trail, it is primarily a peaceful Minnesota forest
expedition. About half the trail is recommended for summer use, due
to standing water on the opposite portion.
Snowmobiles are the transportation of choice on the 150-mile aisle.
In the winter, you can make the trip from Grand Marais to Duluth in
a couple days time.
This is a fairly rugged trail, relatively desolate and unkempt, and
if you’re willing to brave it, Mother Nature will see that you’re
rewarded. An abundance of wildlife is guaranteed, animals such as hawks,
bears, moose, various birds and even the occasional timber wolf.
Take on this challenging winter trail and skim the Northern Minnesota
border and along the spacious superior.
