Hiking the
Lookout Mountain Trail:
The trail from Junctions 12 through 17 is meant for back country skiing and is not groomed. Junction 3 to 8 to 17 is meant for skiing only. It is not intended for hiking as it is very wet. The Laurentian Divide Recreation Area serves as the trailhead for the Lookout Mountain Trail which includes a �-mile fitness trail with 7 exercise stations and additional one-mile long distance loop. The ski trail is groomed by volunteers and is funded for maintenance in part by the Minnesota Grant-In-Aid program. This is also a hiking trail, especially popular in the fall. The Laurentian Snowmobile Trail is located � mile north of this trailhead. A parking lot is located there for snowmobilers. If that lot is full, snowmobilers are welcome to park at the Laurentian Divide but must access the snowmobile trail by driving north alongside Highway 53.

Trailhead Directions: From Virginia, MN take Highway 53/169 north for 4 miles. The trailhead is located at the Laurentian Divide Recreation Area on the northbound lane.
