The Minnesota Museum Of Mining is located at Chisholm, Minnesota. It focuses on the mining of the Mesabi Range's rich iron ore. It is not a show mine, but features a replica of an underground mine. The whole museum is very kid-friendly. Children are allowed to touch the equipment, or climb into the mining trucks and locomotives.
Equipment on display include a 1930 White dump truck, a WABCO Electrohaul that has a capacity of 120 tons, and a 1907 steam locomotive that was the 1st major exhibit of the museum. Smaller equipment, from the early days until present, are on exhibit too, such as diamond drills, mammoth rotary drills and modern jet drills.
One of the highlights is a huge Steam Railroad Diorama that shows an imaginary railroad that connects the Bay of the Wooly Mammoth to the Millennium Mine.
