Only about a half of a mile from
the mainland, this island has a lot to offer day visitors and
adventurous souls. Ferries make trips back and forth every few
hours, call ahead to plot out your visit.
The island, despite its proximity to civilization, has remained
relatively remote. There is a small historic community, a small
lighthouse, and some unpaved paths, but other than that, Grand’s
nature remains untouched. Hiking and mountain biking are the best
ways to strike out on the island. Twenty three miles of primitive
trail get you from one side to the other and offer views and wildlife
that could be considered, well, grand.
