Long regarded as an instate vacation for natives, Traverse City is slowly gaining reputation as a vacationers hub. It is a relatively small town (minus the tourists) and successfully blends a few rowdy downtown streets with perfect views of the bay.

Traverse City is perfect for those who love the outdoors, but respect a good bar or restaurant every now and then. Downtown divides the bay in half and the coasts are dotted with short stretches of beachfront. Less urban sectors are great for outdoor recreation and sports related activity such as cycling and hiking.

The huge cherry production also remains a tourist favorite. The yearly National Cherry Festival is a good excuse to hang out for a few days.
