This is one of the more appealing cities in the Michigan’s northern third. Still largely adorned in thick forest, Paradise is well heralded for its outdoor appeal.

Tohquamenon Falls State Park is one of the main attractions, with gorgeous backwoods and lakes intermittently seen trailside. The beaches of Superior are choppy yet somehow inviting in peak summer. Whitefish Bay is a popular destination, campgrounds and cabins are your best overnight bets. The Shipwreck Museum is a well done, eerie landmark full of artifacts and legends from Superior’s past. Winter is a different story. Temperatures are ridiculously low and the only real way to get around is by snowmobile.

There are plenty of quaint local restaurants and shops with great seafood and friendly patrons. If you’re looking for a secluded region with slow backwoods charm, you’ll understand this town’s namesake.
