Laughing Whitefish Falls

Michigan Home | Michigan Sitemap
Laughing Whitefish Falls is widely considered to be the most scenic of all Michigan waterfalls. The falls cascade through a striking gorge covered with old growth pine, cedar, balsam, fir and hemlock. It is clear why DeLorme Mapping rated Laughing Whitefish Falls as one of the 7 “Notable Falls” in Michigan in the Michigan Atlas & Gazetteer.

The easy, 0.8-mile walk from the parking lot to the falls follows a well-groomed trail under a canopy of old-growth hardwoods, including beech and maple trees that are especially beautiful when the leaves turn crimson and gold in the autumn months. Excellent views are also available from observation decks at the top, middle and bottom of the spectacular 110-foot long cascade. There is also a developed hiking trail to the bottom of the gorge.
