Only a short trip inland from Boston, the confluence
of these three rivers is one of great national importance. Swirling
with life, they provide a unified, delicate ecosystem that consists
partly of various fish and a large population of waterfowl. Also, with
distinctive memorable sites from a young United States, it has become
a culmination of history, nature, and science.
Kayaking is a popular pastime here, edging out canoeing as the favorite
means of seeing the grounds. You can maneuver under bridges and calm,
wide waters. There are about ten places to put in and take out during
the course of the trip.
The area is well managed and protected. It is a great opportunity to
experience an unchanging environment, appreciated as much now as it
was back then.
