Much of Essex National Heritage Area
is seemingly one large, live antique. The preserved land, homes,
shops, industrial mills and so on ooze early American. There are
a bunch of welcome/visitors centers, and there are plenty of tours
and such to get it through your head.
Besides this there are the famous Massachusetts beaches, white
sand and all. Hiking the dunes or boating and canoeing through
the various inland waterways are good ways to traverse the region.
