The Massachusetts portion of the challenging and beautiful Appalachian
Trail moves north and south through the western portion of the state.
Only a few quaint towns, such as Mount Greylock, interrupt wide, panoramic
views you will encounter on the way.
The overall trail is about 2, 200 miles long, and takes a good deal
of time to hike. Whether you are starting, stopping, or passing through
Massachusetts you will appreciate its fluctuating land and air of nostalgia.
There are historical sites and several worthy stopping points along
the way, so make some time to get acquainted with Massachusetts’
rich past.
