Peddocks Island in the state of Massachusetts is one of the largest, most diverse islands in Boston Harbor. The island covers more than 180 acres, and boasts the longest shoreline of any harbor island. It is composed of 4 headlands, connected by sand or gravel bars called tombolos. Outdoor adventure lovers are advised to put this on their list of must-see Boston attractions.
Peddocks Island offers a pier for Boston fishing as well as several hiking trails that pass a marsh, a pond and coastal forests. Camping is not permitted on Peddocks Island, however, so leave the tents at home.
Peddocks Island is open daily from 9:00 am until sunset. Special arrangements for school group visits are possible for weekdays in spring, summer and fall.
