At the “elbow” of Cape Cod
sites the lovely town of Chatham, Massachusetts. Chatham epitomizes
Cape living with quaint homes and panoramic beaches. The Chatham Light
Beach is one of the most beautiful beaches on Cape Code. The sand is
white and clean. The beach is wide and long so there is plenty of room
for visitors. There are wonderful sand dunes and seals can often be
seen in the area.
Because there is no parking available nearby,
the beach is not as crowded as others on the Cape, which makes it an
appealing place to visit.
Like many beaches that face Nantucket Sound,
it can be windy at Chatham Light Beach. This is great for windsurfing
and can also lead to some good waves on occasion. Tanning and swimming
are also good choices.
Chatham Light Beach has a fantastic view
of Nantucket Sound. On the cliff above the beach sites the Chatham Lighthouse.
This is a fully operating lighthouse and is sometimes open for tours.
No pets, cars, alcohol and day use fees.
Chatham is less commercial than other communities
on the Cape. In the summer, Cape Cod comes alive. There is no better
time to visit Chatham Light Beach than the summer. During the summer,
there are numerous activities to whet your appetite.
