North Point State Park rests on the scenic Chesapeake Bay, rich in history and natural resources. From 1906-1947, it was the site of the Old Bay Shore Amusement Park. The trolley station and walkway are still intact.North Point State Park features historic interest from the War of 1812, now part of the Defenders' Trail. With its spectacular waterside location on the Chesapeake Bay, a portion of the park has been designated as a Wildlands Area. Visitors can view interpretive exhibits at the visitor center and enjoy outdoor dining at the picnic grove afterward. Multi-use trails used year-round give visitors an up close view of the varied wildlife and birdlife. Paddling the estuarine waters is also a favorite pastime.
