Fishing on Unicorn Lake.
Unicorn Lake is located one mile south of the town of Millington in Maryland. The lake was formed when a dam was constructed for a woolen mill more than a century ago, but today belongs to the state of Maryland. Unicorn Lake covers 43 surface-acres has a maximum depth of 8 feet, an average depth of 4 feet and 2 small islands.

Unicorn Branch tributary supports brown trout and provides cool water year round. The aquatic vegetation, woody debris from the forested shoreline and strategically placed discarded Christmas trees provide excellent fish habitat. A “fish ladder” also allows for the migration of fish species to 14.5 miles of tributary upstream of the Unicorn Lake.

Unicorn Lake is a great place for Maryland fishing. It is a managed largemouth bass and bluegill fishery. Anglers may occasionally catch other fish including, but not limited to, pickerel, catfish, perch, trout, American eel and creek chub sucker. Unicorn Lake does not have a horsepower limit. The maximum speed limit is 6 knots, and electric trolling motors are preferred. Sorry, no swimming or camping allowed.
