The slopes at Big Squaw
Big Squaw Mountain Ski Area is found in the Moosehead Lake region near Greenville, Maine. It is a quiet and relatively remote spot that has plenty of uncrowded trails and lifts for its guests to enjoy. Big Squaw is also notable for the diverse Maine skiing terrain there; the mountain is split into 2 major areas, Upper and Lower.

The lower mountain is suitable for beginner and intermediate skiers. The long gentle runs down Fitzgerald or Squaw Brook are good for relatively unskilled skiers. Intermediates will want to check out the Kennebec and Allagash trails.

The upper mountain caters to advanced and expert skiers. Trails like the St. Croix, East Branch and Penobscot trails. Penobscot Trail at Big Squaw Mountain is by far the most scenic. The New England skiing season at Big Squaw lasts from late-November to early-April. The resort has a 52 unit hotel and two base lodges.
